VHSL announced masks are required during practices/competitions for select sports.
Normally the season starts practices in early November when respective counties release facility space.
Practices generally coincide with the Virginia High School League (VHSL) season start in November.
VHSL announced that the first high school practices will begin December 14, 2020.
County parks and recreation offices delayed access to facilities by youth sports programs until January.
Clubs that use private facilities will start earlier commensurate with VA State guidelines.
VHSL imposed severe restrictions on high school wrestling practices starting December 14th.
As a result, NVWF Executive Committee determined it best to delay the youth wrestling program until after the holidays based on recent guidelines by VHSL and NVWF Parent/Coach/Manager surveys showing most clubs depend on access to public schools for practices. A meeting will be held after Christmas to determine the status of sports in the area.
