Veteran World Championships
6–11 October 2026·Amman, Jordan
A world championship for wrestlers past the senior years — technical, unsentimental, and badly under-covered.
The veteran world championships open in Amman on 6 October and run through 11 October. Freestyle and Greco-Roman share the week. It is the first of three world meets this month, and the one most likely to be skipped by casual coverage.
That would be a mistake if you care about the sport's grammar. Explosive shots thin out. Ties, underhooks and the patience to wait for a tired hip become the match. Veterans are not wrestling a tribute. They are wrestling with the catalogue of holds they trusted when they were faster, edited by what their bodies will still allow.
How NVWF will cover it
We will treat Amman as sport, not as a reunion column. Ages and categories matter for the bracket. They do not require a softer standard of reporting. When we name a winner, it will be from the competition protocol, not from a social clip.
